National Service Agency CEO to Announce Inaugural Social Innovation Fund Grant Awards to Experienced Innovators

Thursday, July 22, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. EDT

Washington, DC – This Thursday, the Corporation for National and Community Service will announce its inaugural Social Innovation Fund (SIF) grants. The grants will target millions in public and private funds to grow effective solutions to persistent social challenges across greater than 20 states.

The SIF is a critical component of the Administration's broader agenda – led by the White House Office of Social Innovation and Civic Participation – to redefine how evidence, innovation, service and public-private cooperation can be used to tackle urgent social challenges. It represents a new era of public-private partnerships that encourages innovation and rewards results in the social service sector by funding the expansion of successful programs more broadly.

WHAT: LIVE Webcast and Press Q&A discussing SIF and its collection of bold programs targeting millions of dollars in resources to community solutions in the areas of economic opportunity, health and youth development.

WHO: Patrick Corvington, CEO of the Corporation for National & Community Service

The Corporation for National and Community Service is a federal agency that leads the nonprofit and voluntary sector, and is an expert at solving community challenges through service. Patrick will announce the SIF grantees and discuss how this new federal government program will transform the social sector and better target private-public resources to community solutions.

WHEN: Announcement: Thursday, July 22 at 10:30 a.m. EDT

Press Q&A: Immediately following at 11 a.m.

To register for the Webcast and Press Conference call please email: SIFRSVP@hillandknowlton.com.
